Live Journal
Howdy people!

So today, I got an email from the head boss herself over at Granger Enchanted, pointing me to this nice little spot on the internet.

Of course I go look, and low and behold, people are blogging about one of my stories!

SQUEE!!

I'm flattered beyond belief that they notice of my story, and thought enough of it to chat it up!  So, basically, SWEET!

Now if I can only work up the courage to write a book of my own, instead of borrowing someone else's playground...

Foster Parent Oddities
So today Jack and I had our quarterly vist, and our social worker informed us that we have to be fingerprinted every year from now on.

(re-read that sentance, and tell me what's the matter with it!)

We were fingerprinted during our original application process, so basically my question is, do our fingerprints change somehow?  No!  Of course they don't.  That's the point of fingerprints, yeah?  They're unique to each person?

Hello!

The storyline is that they (whoever in Heaven's name comes up with these inane procedures) think this re-inking of ten fingers on an annual basis will help deter some of the very real horrors taking place in the child care system.  Can anyone explain that to me?  Does a proclivity to abuse a child show up in your fingerprints?  Does the third time you're fingerprinted reveal that you think it might be alright to keep your six foster children in a cage?  Or maybe when you're fingerprinted during your fifth year of being a licensed foster parent, they can tell you should be housing six year olds instead of ten year olds, aye?

Just another goofy addendum to the already thick and murky waters of being a foster parent...

Go figure!

A bit o' this and that...
So I hope Christmas and New Years were enjoyable to you all.  All...is anyone even reading this thing?  How about leaving a comment so I know you're out there?

I got to see my family, which was very nice, especially my sister and most of her bunch, and my brother and his bunch.  I love bunches.

Since my last post, we've made some progress in remodeling upstairs.  Not as much as I'd like, but it's getting there!  I can't wait until it's finished!  We've decided on keeping the bedroom in Penn State colors, the office is going to be Browns (yay!), and my Grandma's room will be, at her request, purple and white.  Oh, the things we do for love, haha :)

I'd like to say for Christmas I got a new car, but I really only got it because I totaled my Malibu the week before.  Thank the Lord I wasn't badly injured, just banged up and bruised, so WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!  My accident was less than three miles from my house, so wear it each and every time!

And if you slide on thie ice at 35 mph and hit a telephone pole, the police will give you a ticket.  Grrrr....

The good that came from that was I got a Mitsubishi Outlander.  Mine is dark gray, not silver (note to Colleen!), but here it is.  What do you think?  I've never been in love with a vehicle before!

So anyway, I think that about wraps it up.  I've started my sixth (if you can believe it!) story on fanfiction, so if you're into Harry Potter fanfiction, stop on over.

Christmas Greeting
Even where I work, I cannot answer the phone with "Merry Christmas".  Isn't that sad?  I have no problem with anyone else celebrating whatever holiday they see fit, but  why can't I celebrate mine?

Why doesn't it occur to the people who make these decisions that we wouldn't even HAVE a holiday season were it not for the birth of Jesus Christ?  They certainly buy Christmas presents, put up a tree, and decorate their house and yard, I'm sure.  They also take Christmas day off from work.

WHY IS THIS if you don't celebrate Christmas?  Does this make sense to anyone else?

Cleveland Browns WHAT?
So I know it just isn't me who's disappointed in yesterday's game!  Large amounts of the phrase "WTF" came out of my mouth.  Just how many interceptions can Derek Anderson throw in one game?  Hello! I've been cheering for you, Derek, and tossing aside everyone who said it was time for Brady Quinn to hop in as starting QB.  I said, why fix it if it isn't broke?  Now you've made me look bad, and yourself, and the Browns.

And losing to the Cardinals, no less!  Dispicable and embarassing.  Kardiac Kids, indeed!

Let's hope that we win the rest of the season, and not make a blunder of any more games that should have gone in the 'win' column.

Update
Hi everyone,

So sorry it's been forever since I've updated this thing.  I've had a crazy busy summer, and now I've got a crazy busy fall.

To recap the summer, I'm happy to say my nephew Mark and neice Ellen came to stay with us for 2 weeks, and it was mostly a great time. My sister came for the second week, and it was nice to all be together.

Since then, they've moved to Warren and am happy to say out of the house they were in, thank God.  On to better and brighter things, sissy! You go!

My neices Sara, Brianna, and Jessica also came for Harry Potter weekend in July, when book 7 came out.  Hard to tell who's the bigger fan, me or Sara!  Barnes and Nobles is probably still talking about us, haha.  Sara and I were 7th and 8th in line to buy that book, we each got our own, and stayed up late into the night to read read read!

We were supposed to go to the zoo, but Jessica got bronchitis and we had to take her home.  This is no small feat since she lives in Virginia!  But my brother met us in West Virginia, so it wasn't so bad.

On a not so bright note, my Aunt Pat passed away.  She lost her fight with lung cancer after an uphill and overlong battle.  Yes, she's in a better place, I know, but it's so sad.  My grandma even got an ulcer from the stress of it all.  So please, if you smoke, stop now, before it's too late.

On a much brighter note, my Grandmother sold her house to Jack and I.   We're happy to finally be homeowners!  Move in day is first week of November, so if you'd like to come carry a few boxes, feel free! HA!

I'm still writing on fanfiction's website, so if you're into Harry Potter fanfiction, I'm under 'dynonugget'.  Not for underages!
